Preserving & Protecting the Quality of Life in the 104th Precinct since 1976
Memorial to September 11, 2001 Tragedy

Mission Statement
For over 30 years the Glendale Civilian Observation Patrol, (G-COP), has been the extended eyes and ears for the NYPD in Glendale, New York. G-COP is the oldest, largest and most active civilian patrol in the City of New York. G-COP members don't complain about crime, they do something about it. We patrol the streets of our neighborhood and via radio report all police fire and medical emergencies to the proper authorities. Recently we have expanded our patrol to cover the three other communities that make up the 104th Precinct. Due to the lack of police manpower in the 104th Precinct, G-COP urges all concerned residents of Glendale, Ridgewood, and Maspeth & Middle Village to help us preserve, protect and enhance the quality of life in our communities. In other words, GET OFF YOUR REAR AND VOLUNTEER. Minutes after the first high jacked plane hit the North Trade Center Tower and while millions of people were glued to their TV sets, over two dozen G-COP members mobilized. In constant contact with the 104th Precinct we were ordered to patrol the Precinct boundaries and look for anyone looking to commit a crime of opportunity. Around the clock for 5 straight days, G-COP manned the posts around the 104th Precinct and took care of the Combat Parking. This G-COP action freed up 3 to 4 police sector cars to resume patrol and answer 911 emergency calls. G-COP is responsible for over 100 graffiti related arrests, during a 14-month period, starting in October of 2000. During this time of threats of terrorism against our nation, we urge all able bodied men and woman to help with the civil defense of our neighborhoods by joining G-COP. ALL IT TAKES FOR EVIL TO THRIVE, IS FOR THE GOOD MEN & WOMAN OF GLENDALE, RIDGEWOOD, MASPETH & MIDDLE VILLAGE  TO DO NOTHING!
